Insurance: Off for "Women's tariffs"

The European Court has said insurance companies must continue to offer gender-neutral tariffs and services.

insurance companies have to offer in the future uniform rates for women and men. This was decided by the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in Luxembourg on Tuesday. Different levels of premiums are discriminated against women and therefore invalid. The insurance industry must now offer unisex rates to December 2012. Major ISPs already warn, Now that the tariffs would be more expensive for all.

exception clauses
is true that the equal treatment of men and women is a principle of EU law, but so far there are escape clauses in insurance. Sun tariffs are calculated on the statistical risk. Conversely, women pay less for car insurance because they cause less accidents.
